So, after the Instagram poll that I did I figured everyone seemed keener on reading about Challenges, Choices & Changes rather than my trip to Prague which I will save for latter ha-ha.
These 3 C’s have a huge impact in life, In fact if you were to ask me I feel any kind of growth or success revolves around these C’s. To me it’s as though “It’s the choices you make during the challenges & changes in life that lead you towards the life you desire”. This is something that I have realised more in the past 14 months than ever before.
Challenges
The word Challenge was once a term that I only saw with fear. It was one that I only understood when I was in a battlefield against my rivalry to prove myself better to them and not to forget the fear of failure would daunt me. But that was then, as I have grown in life, I have learnt that challenges build you into the person that you are, they mould you.
I now look a challenge from a very different perspective in life, I feel as though I wouldn’t be who I am if it weren’t for these challenges, they have always put me outside of my comfort zone and required for me to face situations that I would dread to face, they have helped me grow in life.
I no longer fear failure in challenges as I have come to a realisation that I am my only completion. In the end the only thing that matters is that I come out better in any aspect be it physically, mentally, emotionally or financially than where I was when I had once started.
A small example of a current challenge that I am facing in my weight loss journey is my back injury. I know the injury I have and how it impacts my workout routine hence why I have now started to focus on other exercises and techniques that I can use to improve my back and get fitter at the same time. Yes it may be that I’m not use to some of the exercises that I have now had to introduce such as yoga and that comes with its own challenge , I realised I’m too stiff but with my current circumstance I have to be self-aware and understand that all that matters is that after these 28 days I am more flexible than I was on day 1 and most importantly I am a little if any closer to achieving my goal.
This is growth, within this one challenge I learnt to find alternatives when needed and figured a new area to work on my body (flexibility) as well as faced my biggest fear of seeing a physio and lastly, I am also now learning to practise yoga, something new to me. So, challenges help you grow.
Choices
Choices are one of the most important things that we make in life. We need to think, and revisit are decisions when making these. I look at these in a very different light then I have in the past . The choices I make are very closely connected to my goals in life. We have all heard the saying that you can’t keep making the same choices and expect a different outcome. For example, I can’t stay in bed all day and just expect to wake up with millions in my bank account as that would take some work, right? So, for me to obtain that I need to make a choice to get out of bed early and have a plan to work towards.
The choices we make are always ours, I once read somewhere about 2 children of an alcoholic father, one was an alcoholic whilst the other decided to go and become a lawyer. The one who was an alcoholic had seen his dad every day and made the choice to just drown himself in alcohol whilst the other saw his father every day and made a choice to stay away from it as much as possible. This is how effective the choices we consciously or sub consciously make can impact our entire life. In a very similar way, I can continue eating all the junk in the world as its easier however if I made healthier choices I would be closer to my goal in life.
Make the choices that can deliver to you your desired life especially when you face challenges & changes ❤
Changes
Change has literally been the definition of my life in the past 14 months. I had always heard the saying “life can change overnight“
However never had I first handed experienced it . In the past months I have experienced this more than ever. You can wake up one morning and everything in your world changes. Your job, responsibilities, priorities, goals, lifestyle, relationships, location etc.
Changes challenge you, from my experience I have learnt that these changes in life have helped me realise what matters most to me in life, what my priorities are and what is more important to me. And this is exactly how changes change people, they mould you into a higher version of yourself.
You may even outgrow people around you during such life experiences. This was hard for me to accept, I had people around me upset because I was no longer the person I once used to be but those that you truly matter to would support your growth and always be around, nobody should ever be made to feel guilty of growth. People would only be “let down” because you no longer serve their needs the way you once use to.
Changes don’t come with a guarantee of their nature, but they do surely test our capabilities, adjustability and most certainly our capacity, this can be mental, physical or emotional. These changes will test you but they will help you become the best version of yourself. And remember nobody ever grows in life without CHANGING.
