Creating a positive mindset

During the current pandemic I have had more time than ever in my hands, I don’t know about everyone else but for me more time meant more thinking and that led to overthinking and this is not always a good sign as it is easy to let your mind-set slip and divert, I knew I had to start taking the small steps towards building myself back up into the person I was however like anything else in life I had to address, accept and understand the thoughts that were arising and why I felt the way I did. This proved to be a great time to self-develop as in a daily life I would run away from my internal thoughts and turn to parties, traveling and socializing, now I had nowhere to go and had two options one to rely on a high volume of alcohol which would impact my overall productivity or phase the challenges and heal permanently, I am by no means saying this is easy and I wouldn’t say it just happens overnight but one thing I know is each step of courage is a step towards progress 🙂

FORGIVE AND LOVE YOURSELF

Forgiving yourself and letting go of any guilt you hold within is an essential. We are all humans who make our own life mistakes these are a healthy part of growth, we then recognize them and ask for forgiveness as we take our lessons to move forward towards evolution. As a person if you have shown the courage to accept these mistakes and asked for forgiveness then that shows you are not running away and are in realization and acknowledgment of your actions and how they may have impacted others, whether other people forgive you or not you need to forgive yourself and hold no guilt, forgiveness is internal. Don’t let no external forgiveness hold you back from your future self. Embrace and love the person you are today with your flaws, love yourself physically & mentally and then aim to develop yourself into the person you dream to be.

MAINTAIN A DAILY ROUTINE

I do not have enough words to express the importance of having a healthy daily routine. I used to be a night owl who would stay awake till ridiculous times and then sleep my way through the day, this made me a less productive person, I felt nothing but lazy and negative. For a better mind-set it is essential to create a routine which starts no later than 9 in the morning (if it was up to me I would say 8) and then ends around 10:30. Obviously we all have the odd occasions when we socialize but a healthy daily routine is key to starting a positive mind-set.

CRAFT A POSSITIVE ENVIRONMENT

When we surround ourselves around people we always as humans are instinct to the energies they bring into our lives, it’s our job to craft and manage these, take a step back from the people, situations and energies that you do not wish to attract in life. Surround yourself around the ones that love you, accept you and understand you, when you are around the people & energies you wish to attract for example: Positive, uplifting, successful, creative etc. you will automatically tune into the better version of yourself this will bring you yet another step closer to your goals, don’t feel guilty for not investing in anything that brings you down, the universe will bring to you what you attract 🙂

EAT AND COOK GOOD

Anyone that knows me definitely knows how much I love to cook but this is not necessarily always healthy. It may seem as no big deal and just food however what we feed our body directly impacts the way we feel mentally and physically, for example when I am higher on greens and low on carbs I feel high levels of energy which makes me happier however carbs make me feel lazy and bloaty. A balanced diet if definitely a good step towards a better mind set, I’m not saying it is easy as even I am still struggling but every little cut back can help, for example I cut back on alcohol and bread , I will only have bread twice a month and drink very wisely and occasionally to start off with and then slowly you cut back a little more bit by bit.

DIVERT YOUR THOUGHTS

Thoughts get worse when you overthink therefore it is best to divert your attention towards the positive when they arise, here are a few thing I do

  • Remind myself of all the great things I have in life like my family, freedom, career, friends etc.
  • Read a form of positive material, I normally go back to my positivity album on my phone, I take screenshots of positive Instagram quotes I see and relate to and add them into this album so that I can go back to them whenever I feel a little dull.
  • Vision all the greater things you want for yourself, the travels, the adventures, the dream career, car, house etc. This normally leads to creative ideas and before I even know it my minds in a complete different place.
  • Call or meet up with friends & family who uplift you and remind you of the amazing soul you are

RELEASE

Releasing anger, stress and frustration is very important to me and has also proven to be great, the few ways I have in mind are

  • Boxing, this is amazing to release anger and stress that you can’t easily express however during lockdown maybe an inclined walk would help or a boxing match on your Wii , dancing is also a great form of expressing and releasing if you are comfortable with this.
  • Write out how you feel and let it out, my form of writing will depend on the circumstances for example if my feelings are generic in life I will just write a journal however if they are towards a specific person I will write out letters until I have expressed everything I wish to say without actually saying it to them, don’t worry I destroy them after haha

ENHANCE SPIRITUALLY

This may not be for everyone but as a spiritual person these few steps have proven to be very beneficial for me

  • Connect with yourself internally and obtain a greater understanding of yourself and your purpose, you can do this by spending time alone
  • Meditate religiously, be it even a few minutes a day
  • Spend more time in nature, even if it means sitting in your back garden or balcony or just waking up to feel and see the sunrise.
  • Grow plants, they will surprise you with their aura 🙂

SET GOALS

Set yourself some professional and personal goals, when setting these aim for a timeline by when you would like to achieve these, once you achieve them bit by bit they will motivate you to do more, I ensure to work on my insecurities and add goals that can help me overcome them this builds up more confidence in me.

The world and century we live in is very pressurizing and we all have our lows, some days these little steps will help us but if we feel that we are struggling severely then we shouldn’t hold back or feel ashamed to speak up and seek medical help, not everyone is the same, speaking to therapists, friends and seeking medical advice is you looking after your health and well-being and that should always be priority, never be harsh on yourself because there’s an entire society already doing this, know yourself , embrace yourself , love yourself and then evolve ❤
