Dresden 2020 Solo Trip :-)

Perhaps a little too late for a 2020 New years blog but hey definitely better late then never..

So to welcome 2020 in I did something completely new and unique to me, I went away on a solo trip to Dresden, Dresden is one the smaller yet important cities of Germany for those of you who our wondering it was the architecture and the history of the city that had lead me there.

Many said it was a weird decision to spend NYE on my own (even though I know what they actually thought was that I must be sad to “have” do this lol) but I had a reason a very important and great one. 2019 had been proving to be a little rollercoaster ride for me and there were more lows than ups, initially I reflected and assessed what it was that was causing these downfalls and uncertainty within me and I came to my conclusion, what was effecting me emotionally, physically and mentally was my own actions, I had completely lost self focus and did not perform no act of self love and self care in-fact I had been completely neglecting myself and was consumed in providing for and helping my loved ones, during this process I had forgotten my existence and my own purpose, goals and visions in life. This is when I realised that obtaining my goals and chasing my dreams is the only way to my happiness and this is what I have to provide for myself just like my loved ones should do too, in this era some of us may still yet feel guilty and harsh for thinking of ourselves first and this is exactly what I had done. But think of it this way how can you actually provide somebody with something that you do not have within yourself ? you can’t borrow money of somebody who has no money? the same way you can’t provide love and happiness when you don’t have it within yourself….This thought process has lead me to dedicate 2020 to ME, myself, my happiness, my growth and my own self-development and I thought what better way to welcome a year dedicated to myself than to go on a solo trip to a city full of art, history, culture, beauty and lights. Make 2020 YOUR year and remember a happier you is a more productive you and a more productive you is one who can help and provide better for the ones you love 🙂

DRESDEN

Dresden is a very beautiful and historic city of Germany. This was my first visit to Germany and I relied a little more than expected on google translate haha. The city has great public transport, including trams that run 24hrs, if your anything like me this will certainly excite you. My stay consisted of 2 nights which I think was enough for me to see the city and explore. As a solo traveller I really enjoyed my trip and was not once made to feel uncomfortable I would recommend to visit the fireworks if you go on NYE as well as the church ceremony at the cities famous church. The hop on hop off tour is also highly recommended if you wish to visit both old and new Dresden. this is the best way to explore and get an idea of the cities locations as well, I did this on the first day so that I could go back and visit individual places where I had a higher interest in.

TIPS

  • Book transfer directly with the hotel(if needed) as taxis are very expensive and no Uber does not exist
  • Stay as near to the city centre as possible
  • Be prepared to use google translate
  • Make the most of public transport as it is 24hrs and the fastest option
